The launch event of the CfDS Network at the annual BAA Winchester Weekend was highly successful. There was a clear sense among attendees that the issues at hand are becoming increasingly urgent. Many thanks to everyone involved for their contributions to a well-organised and impactful event.
Several engaging topics were presented, with a particularly notable contribution from Jim Verner, who delivered an outstanding talk to the Winchester Weekend audience. His presentation highlighted the significant and growing threat posed by mass satellite constellations. Given the importance of this issue for the future of astronomy, it is essential that the amateur astronomical community works collectively to address it. Additional presentations covered sky quality monitoring and the interaction between industry and government in shaping lighting policy.
